The History of North Long Beach Christian Fellowship
North Long Beach Christian Fellowship was founded as First Southern Baptist Church, by the late Raymond G. Brister in December, 1942 at 5265 Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach, California. In 1943, the land for our current location was purchased and ground-breaking took place on August 18, 1943. Our church hosted its first convention in 1943. Ground-breaking for our current sanctuary took place in 1956. Ground-breaking for the new educational wing (Boyington Educational Center) took place on May 23, 2004 and the building should be completed near or in the time of March 2006.
The name of the church was changed from First Southern Baptist Church to First Southern Baptist Church, doing Business as North Long Beach Christian Fellowship in May 2005. Brother Brister served the church with a dedicated spirit-driven commitment until his death in June 1956.
